IS YOUR PASSPORT REALLY READY TO TRAVEL?
A passport can be valid and still not be enough for your trip.
One of the easiest things for travelers to overlook is passport validity requirements. Some destinations require travelers to have several months of validity remaining beyond their trip.
It's a small detail, but one that can cause a very big problem if you discover it too late.
The 6-Month Rule: Many foreign countries require your passport to be valid for at least 3 to 6 months beyond your planned date of departure. Airlines may deny boarding if you do not meet this requirement.
Recommended Window: The U.S. Department of State suggests starting the renewal process 9 months in advance. This accounts for processing times and mailing delays.
Online Renewal Limit: You can use the U.S. State Department Online Renewal System if your passport is expiring within 1 year or expired less than 5 years ago.
Current Processing Times

Urgent Travel: Requires an in-person appointment at a passport agency if you are traveling within 14 calendar days
