There’s something about September that makes me want to pack a bag.
The crowds of summer begin to thin out. Kids are back in school. The pace slows down. And in many destinations around the world, the weather is still absolutely beautiful.
Welcome to shoulder season—that sweet spot between the busiest travel periods.
Why Travel in September?
For years, summer has been considered the time to travel. But more travelers are discovering that waiting until September can have some real advantages.

Popular destinations can feel completely different once the summer rush is over.

As peak season winds down, airfare and accommodations can sometimes become more attractive. Of course, prices vary by destination and dates, so it's always worth comparing the options rather than assuming September automatically means cheaper travel.

You don't necessarily need two weeks—or even one week—to get away.
Weekend travel is becoming a major fall trend, with travelers looking for shorter escapes that make the most of the season. Scenic drives, small towns, fall foliage, food destinations and quick beach getaways are all finding their way onto travelers' fall wish lists.
Sometimes three nights is enough to hit the reset button.

And that's the part of travel I love most.
